Athletes get injured more often than you might imagine. And not just those that practice all the time, but weekend warriors, too. (In fact, weekend warriors are especially susceptible.) The fact is, high-performance machines need maintenance.
When you’re injured—be it a sprain, a strain or a muscle tear—it’s important to have your injury assessed as soon as possible. The quicker the assessment, the more quickly and effectively you can be treated and return to sport.
Here are some of the most common injuries we see:
- Iliotibial band (ITB) syndrome is a tightness of the outer leg fascia common in runners and cyclists. It causes knee tracking problems and if left untreated can damage the knee
- The plantar fascia is a fibrous band of connective tissue stretching from the bottom of the heel bone to the five toes. When it becomes inflamed it produces pain on the bottom of the heel
- Low back pain
- Chronic ankle sprains
- Neck pain in cyclists
- Knee pain in runners
Specific, individualized treatment plans can help you to return to sport, improve performance and prevent further injury. We practice soft-tissue techniques that can increase muscle strength and speed. In fact, techniques such as Russian electrical stimulation can actually build muscle faster than individuals can build it on their own.
